a girls night

last weekend
a bunch of my
best girls.
went out to paint ceramics.
i had done this before,
but never came away
with anything useful.
so, i wanted to go -
to be with the girls,
and to spend some
time with saige.
but, wasn't super excited.
i'm glad i went -
i found a great sushi plate to paint.
and saige did a bowl.
i figured out a pattern to do -
right away.
(no creative block)
even more exciting -
that saige seemed to really enjoy herself.
(no creative block for her either) -
and she did an amazing job -
and everyone said so.
it is a wonderful thing to see -
her confidence building.

devin gave flowers
to saige & i.
what a sweet boy.
it's too bad
they don't last forever.
i wish that photos
could capture the smell.

 

a carving

i am starting to get 

the hang of this block carving.

also, i have signed up
to do a workshop next week at opus.
i'm excited to learn more.

a bunch of love

as always -
i've been busy making -
and other than
being with my family,
it's when i am happiest.
this week i've been making
my annual valentines.
this year i've done
a 'bloom true' painted style.
i am loving layering and slathering the paint,
and adding paper collage too.

spending time with saige
is so special too -
even if it's just a peek of a moment.
we crafted some heart tee's together -
flouresent pink is where it's at.

also, i have bought myself 

a little present -

salted caramel chocolates.

you just can't go wrong 

with that combination.

a penny collector

a week ago -
was the last day for
the canadian penny.
russ has always been
a penny collector.
so this news
sent him on a mission -
to organize and complete his collection.
it's been a little overwhelming -
having pennies all over the house.
he bought 100's from the banks -
the day before.
but he is managing to get a system going
and hopefully soon
they will all be
in tight little rolls -
and tucked away
in a cupboard.

a flower

i love this little thing.
i bought it in malaysia -
a few years ago.
no one else around here
had one then.
but now i see them bobbing around
on many dashboards -
not so special anymore -
but i like her just the same.

a first attempt

i've had the materials to do this
for a good two years
or more.
maybe i've been a
bit afraid to try.
but, here is my first attempt.
i quite like it.

i had such fun i had to try another...
