a tie dye

we had a busy weekend -
even though
there was only 3 of us home.
i spent most of it
creating things
and taking lots of photos
of flowers in the yard.
saige and i -
made some tie dyed shirts
for the crew leaders
at our upcoming vbs.
it was kind of messy,
but lots of fun.
i love all the bright colors together.

this next project
koen was supposed to help me with -
but it was a little finiky
and he got bored -
so i mostly did it myself.
these onesies are for his teacher.
she is soon to have twins.
i saw a similar set on pinterest -
(it was just a photo - with no link)
and i used
freezer paper stencils to make mine.
i used a bit too much white paint on the letters.
so it bled a little.
but i still think they are really cute.

an anti-bullying day

i am really loving
painting on book pages.
and paper piecing.
here are some
of my new creations.

and here
is the anti-bullying shirt
we made for saige
to wear to school today.
we got our inspiration from here .
koen won't let me
design him a new one -
he just wants to wear this
pink spray painted graffiti type shirt
that devin made - many years ago.
i needed to take it in a bit
for his skinny little frame,
but, it works.

the last couple days creating
some fun stuff
for today.
i think i got all of my ideas from
pinterest.
(which is my newest love)
here is what we've been up to...

tonight for supper
we are having yummy
chicken stew.
and for dessert these lovelies.
happy valentines day everyone!

a purge

before the new year
i started
getting on the right track.
purging unnecessary things,
keeping track of what i spend,
going out less,
and using what i have.
i had tons of wrapping paper and ribbon -
and decorations.
i did not buy any more.
i have heaps of yarn,
and a little bit of fabric.
i made some very nice gifts.
i still overspent.
but i am learning -
to plan,
and re-purpose,
and utilize,
and be satisfied,
living with a bit less.
i still have a long way to go.
and anyone
who has ever seen
my garage  -
will tell you so.
that is a serious amount of unorganized junk!

a few things

every year in about november -
i get to thinking
that i should make gifts.
time is usually a problem -
but, i've been trying to
use my time more wisely.
so this year i have managed
to crank out a few things
that i actually completed.
and that is good enough for me.
i made my mom a knitting needle case.

she is a new knitter -
and i don't think she has many needles,
but it will help her corral them
all together in one place.
i am making this 'love' pillow -
for my sister.
and a gorgeous moebius scarf
out of mohair,
for my friend kerry.
and one for sam,
and one for belynda too,
and probably one for myself.
i also completed
a cozy little vest -
for my new great nephew.
(who hasn't arrived quite yet).

it's almost here.
and i'm almost ready.

a refashion

i made another dress.
yesterday.
it only took me about an hour.
i got my inspiration from
another blogger -
that i adore.
http://iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com/
it's not exactly like cheri's
but, i'm really happy
with how it turned out.
and it was a cinch to make.
here it is...
i used the bottoms of
a bunch of old t-shirts.
layered them up -
and attached them to a new shirt -
from old navy,
that i cut the bottom off of.
sewed the layers together at the waist -
on the right side
so it gives the little fringy, layered look.
i hope no one thinks that was a mistake.
it was totally on purpose.
now to go find a baby girl to try it on.
